Uncle Scott

We’ve been quiet about it to allow peace in initial grieving, but last week, my moms brother Scott passed away. Originally given two years, he fought the odds of mesothelioma for a year and a half. His sudden decline and subsequent passing has hit us all hard. My mom lost a brother. My cousins lost their father. My aunt lost her husband. The world lost one of the most brilliant, ornery, particular, caring, witty, intellectual souls. While we knew this was coming, it was not expected quite so suddenly. My uncle Scott could make an entire room of people smarter, just for being in it. Or maybe dumber, depending on how you look at it. Either way, he’d make them laugh. He was something else, and it was a privilege to have him impact our lives as he did. Somewhere in the cosmos, Sloanie is going to learn a lot from his great uncle Scott. 🖤
