A Special Ear

Phoenix has what we call a “special ear”. Her ears are completely different from each other. One was folded in the womb so it developed incorrectly. (She CAN hear with it). It has almost no upper helix and it’s antihelical fold is deformed a bit. When she was newborn we thought about taping it, sometimes we still do. But we noticed that, though it still sticks out quite a bit, it is slowly improving. It will likely never look normal, and it may bother her cosmetically some day. But right now, it is a very special, unique piece of her physical being and one that we love.
